Marbling paper is magic! Not only is the product beautiful when you are finished, but the process is captivating.
The art of marbling originated in Japan in the twelfth century with the discovery that ink floating on water could be transferred to paper. Three centuries later, artists in Turkey further developed the art form by drawing on paint floating on thickened water, before transferring the resulting pattens to paper. Knowledge of this new art spread into Renaissance Europe, where patterns and techniques were developed. The different marbling houses in Europe carefully guarded the process of marbling but by the nineteenth century the secrets of marbling were revealed to the general population.

"Marbling is exciting and I love to share the process of how to do it. It is so fun to watch children lift their paper up off the water and see what they have created. "
